Thank you again for a wonderful few days at Rose Cottage. We stayed in October 2025 and received a warm welcome on arrival with the heating on, a small welcome hamper, and a detailed book of information for the property. The inglenook woodburner is a lovely feature and was set up ready to use. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with utensils, pans and dishes, as well as a teapot and cafetière. The double bed was extremely comfortable to sleep in. The bathroom may be compact but has all that is needed with a nice big shower area. The small rear garden was a delightful spot to enjoy breakfast or a quiet read. The village is well situated to see lots of the delights of Northumberland and with a large and well stocked supermarket (with instore butchers) a short walk up the road you have everything you need for a self-catered stay.

We stayed at Rose Cottage for a week in August 2025 , taking our 12 year old granddaughter for a holiday in Northumberland. The weather was perfect , which helped, and the cottage is well situated to explore the area. It is also cosy and well equipped. We found all we needed in the kitchen and enjoyed evenings playing board games around the table in the lounge. The beds are comfy and the bathroom, while small, has a good shower and everything needed. The cottage was very clean and well presented. We also sat in the rear garden and enjoyed the warm evenings.
The garage and village shop are a great asset, as is the local pub. Cragside is a short drive down the road and Rothbury is less than 10 minutes by car. Our springer spaniel settled well in the lounge and we were so impressed by the ‘doggie stopper’ that we bought one too!
Alnwick is a slightly longer drive but well worth the visit to the castle & gardens. Our granddaughter made the most of the water features!
Our favourite beach is at Alnmouth & we love the fish shack on the quayside in Amble. It was a good holiday and Rose Cottage provided an excellent base, so many thanks and we can highly recommend.

We spent a very pleasant 3 night stay at Rose cottage in May 2025. We were very last minute with our booking but after emailing Christian with our request, he was very responsive and helpful in securing the booking. We were delighted upon arrival with both the location and the finish of the cottage which was beautifully clean and in very good order. Everything had been thought of, it’s one of the best equipped properties we’ve stayed in and was a pleasure to cook in the kitchen, with plenty of pans, utensils and crockery. The cottage is perfectly situated to explore coast or forest and we visited Otterburn and Kielder for forest walks and picnics. The village has a great pub, the Three Wheatheads with a varied menu and beautiful garden. It was nice to come back and relax in the comfortable living room. The bed was super comfy and early mornings we had bird song! We sat in the garden with coffee and admired the views and walked our dog along the river just a minute from the front door!
Christian was a great host, checking in on text to see we had everything we needed. The only negative was not staying long enough, it was a ‘home from home’ and we will definitely return!
